Best Fly Fishing Waders That Lets You Breath Properly

While fly fishing is fun, getting soaked in water while doing it will just ruin your day. Having the best fly fishing waders bring you closer to fish comfortably and limits all the risks that may be involved. But not when you wear a wrong one.

So, what makes the best fly fishing waders? What features should you look for when buying one? Here are some quick tips.

1. Breathable Material

You won't enjoy your fly fishing if what you are wearing doesn't allow you to breathe properly. Therefore, it is vital to find out if they are comfortable enough to wear when choosing the best fly fishing waders,

  • H2No - 100% breathable and features a long-lasting water repellency
  • CORE-TEX-100% windproof, waterproof and fully breathable
  • Vapour-Tec - Up to 20000 mm water pressure resistance.

2. Durable Material

Water can be damaging to what you wear, and waders aren't excepted. So, ensure that you buy something that will last you a lifetime. Here are some best choices.

  • Nylon and PVC - These are some of the sturdiest and affordable wader materials you will ever come across.
  • Neoprene - Neoprene is also quite durable, but lighter than PVC and Nylon. They also offer great insulation keeping you comfortable While fly fishing.

3. Fitting

If your fly fishing wader doesn't fit well, you will be uncomfortable in the water. Many fly fishers choose to buy tight waders because it is quite pleasing than the baggy ones.

Unfortunately tight wader doesn't allow you to wear an extra cloth for comfort plus it restricts your movement.

So, try them out and ensure that they fit well and will allow you to move in water with much ease. For convenience, I would recommend those that are a little bit loose.

4. Boot Quality

While fishing you won't know what you will be stepping next. If your boots are weak, chances that they will be pierced are high. Most waders you will come across will have either rubber or nylon shoes.

Rubber is much flexible while nylon is durable. If you are looking for something that will withstand anything, then you will have to choose Nylon boots.

So Which one is The Best Fly Fishing Wader

These five jackets share a lot of similarities that makes them perfect for wading. They are quite durable, fully breathable and the best part, affordable. I would go for Frogg Toggs Cascades if I were looking for something much flexible, comfortable and affordable, but the boots just put me off. On the other hand if were to choose a fishing wader that offers a perfect fit for average sizes, Frogg Toggs Hellbender and Allen Company Rock Creek Neoprene would without make my list.

They are also quite pleasing to look at. However, I wouldn't recommend them for large sized persons. That leaves us with Hodgman Mackenzie Boot Foot Chest and Redington Cross-water Wader. Hodgeman Mackenzie is light, durable and the best part, affordable. But isn't the best choice for average sized persons. On the other hand, Redington Cross-water wader has almost the same features, but a few customers are complaining that it isn't durable enough which is the opposite of what many other users are saying is. I wouldn't rely on that, so, give Redington a win here.
